Climate
Libya can be affected by five different climatic areas at any one time but the prevailing zones are considered the Mediterranean and Saharan climates. Closer to the coast the weather is warmer and stable but farther inland temperature can reach over 50 C. Due to Libya's desert like climate for most of the country, rainfall is sparse, often receiving under 400mm a year and in some areas even less than 50mm annually.

Terrain
The Libyan terrain is mostly flat desert plains with depressions and mountains in certain areas. Less than 1% of the entire landmass in Libya is considered arable land.

The Libyan government is currently being reestablished and is under a drastic change since 2012. Libya is currently an electoral democracy according to the General National Council that is currently in control of Libya's government. There is mounting public pressure to change the national constitution. The Libyan government and its system is destined to change drastically in coming years.
