The Egyptian Ministry of Education launches
online community to train 50,000 school managers.
Initiative funded by European Union, built on
SCHOOLMASTER'S award-winning Managed Learning
Environment.
In 6 May 2003, Egypt's Minister of Education,
His Excellency Dr. Hussein Kamel Bahaa El Din,
inaugurated the Egyptian Middle Management Training
Project. Using SCHOOLMASTER - BIBLIOTECH'S award-winning
Managed Learning Environment - the project
will provide training and professional development
for 50,000 school managers in the Egyptian state
school system.
This innovative project is being financed by
international development funding from the European
Union. Dr. Mohamed Yousry Amin of General Technology,
the Egyptian company responsible for the coordination
and implementation of the project, explains, "this
is a very exciting initiative that will bring
Egypt's state school managers to the forefront
of modern education. With participation from The
American University in Cairo, the University of
Northumbria (represented by General Technology
in Egypt), the University of Newcastle and the
Hay Group, school personnel enrolled in the program
will benefit from a three-year professional development
course spanning all aspects of school management
and administration. SCHOOLMASTER'S Managed Learning
Environment provides the ideal platform for delivering
the course materials, facilitating dialogue and
building an online knowledge base to be shared
by all participants throughout the life of the
project. Our country will look to the program's
graduates to provide leadership in the modernisation
of the Egyptian state school system.
