The scholarship is to enable a senior Muslim scholar to spend from October to June carrying out a specific program of research or preparing such research for publication.
The majority of the funds available are “zakat” money, and as such can only be granted to Muslim applicants, to enable them to carry out, in person, particular tasks, projects or courses of study.
There are also limited funds that are available to assist non-Muslim scholars and projects administered by non-Muslim organizations.
