Who:   Students from Syria and Egypt, preference given to those under 30 years of age

What:   Combined grants and loans for graduate or doctoral studies in any field, as well as tuition and living expenses

Description

The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for post-graduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing. Strong candidates have excellent academic records and have already gained admission to an accredited university or institute.

They are expected to have thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans. Candidates are also evaluated on their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. In addition, applicants are expected to have some professional experience in their field of interest.

Scholarships are awarded on a 50 percent grant/50 percent loan basis. The foundation gives priority to master’s level studies but also considers applications for PhD programs in cases where a doctoral degrees is necessary for a student’s career goals.

Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students doing their research in developing world countries on topics judged to be of interest to the Aga Khan Development
