Who: Female students pursuing a graduate degree or post-graduate research

What: About 50 full-time study (graduate or post-graduate) or full-time research fellowships

When: July 1st to June 30th of the following year

Where: Any accredited university in the United States of America

Program length: One year. Up to five fellowships are renewable for a second year

Deadline to apply: To be announced (application period is usually August to December)

Since 1917, the American Association of University Women has awarded more than 3,300 fellowships to women from more than 130 nations. Recipients are selected for academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to the advancement of women and girls.

Past recipients have returned to their home countries to become leaders in business, government, academia, civil society, the arts, and sciences. Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a United State's bachelor’s degree by Sept. 30 of the application year, and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study before submitting a fellowship application.

The master’s fellowship is $18,000 per student. The doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships are $20,000 and $30,000 respectively.
